Real Oviedo midfielder Sergio Tejera appeared before the press this morning ahead of the first group training session, celebrating "being able to finally train" with all of his teammates, following several days of individual sessions.
A new season is starting, but with memories of the suffering of last season in order to achieve survival still fresh in minds. Tejera said that "I believe and hope that the lesson has been learned." The Catalan therefore believes that the key lies in "the start to the season, because that's what hurt us a lot last season." Now is the time to do "good preseason work" and "be as well-prepared as possible to begin the season on the date it is scheduled to start"; during the weekend of 12th September.
Regarding Carlos Hernández and Sangalli, who have both received positive results for COVID-19, Tejera said that he has spoken to both, and that "they are fine. We hope that they are back with us soon,"
Regarding the general economic crisis currently hitting the world of football, the Catalan explained that "we have spoken with (Director of Football, Francesc) Arnau and if the players have to lend a hand then we will do so." He also praised the "good faith shown by Arturo Elías and Grupo Carso in honouring our wages during lockdown, and I think that made the squad want to repay that faith out on the pitch," he concluded.
