Real Oviedo picked up the first victory of the season today at the Carlos Tartiere, after Borja Bastón converted a penalty which he himself had won.

With the team suffering a lot of absences, Bolo opted to bring Marcelo Flores in alongside Bastón up front, with Sangalli and Abel Bretones on the wings. The latter, an academy player, was making his debut and also celebrating his birthday, and he put in a good performance. Jimmy partnered Hugo Rama in midfield, while the defenders and goalkeeper were unchanged.

The first half saw the Asturians have several chances. Marcelo Flores sent the first warning shot with a low strike which was kept out by Jiménez. Bastón was next to go close, before the Mexican Flores threatened once more. The team was solid in defence, and while the scoreline was goalless at halftime, Los Carbayones were slightly on top.

Leganés pushed on slightly more in the second half. Real Oviedo made changes, freshening up the attack and the midfield, and continued to push forward, with the fans right behind them, Bretones headed just over the bar, while Hugo Rama tried his luck from range. The team started to get into the box more, and the penalty would finally arrive as Borja Bastón was brought down. The striker picked himself back up to convert from the spot and give the team its first victory of the season, to the delight of the Tartiere.
