Javi Rozada once more made changes to his Real Oviedo side for the match at the Carlos Belmonte. Joselu was up front in the absence of Ortuño, with Borja Sánchez in the hole behind him. Omar Ramos returned to the starting lineup with Bárcenas away with Panama, while Lolo lined up alongside Tejera in central midfield.
The opening minutes were not bad for a Real Oviedo side which was trying to keep its feet on an unstable pitch at the Carlos Belmonte. The chances in attack came from the left wing, with two Mossa and Saúl crosses evading the attackers, just before the best opportunity of the half. Berjón tried his luck from a tight angle, firing towards the far post, and Nadal had to stretch to deny him. Albacete hit back by opening the scoring, with Dani Ojeda converting a Susaeta cross, in what was an otherwise uneventful first half.
Juanjo Nieto came on for Omar Ramos at the start of the second half, with Sangalli moving forwards to play on the wing. Rozada's team showed a different attitude and went after the match. They created a lot of danger, with crosses from Saúl, shots from Borja Sánchez, and the introduction of Obeng to freshen up the attack. Saúl Berjón hit the post directly from a corner kick, before a fantastic pass from the captain allowed Sangalli to convert and level the scores at 1-1. The team kept going, and Nereo made several saves to protect the draw, before a screamer from Borja Sánchez in the 89th minute gave Real Oviedo a deserved three points away at what is a difficult ground to win at; the Carlos Belmonte.
