Real Oviedo Vetusta came up against Rayo Cantabria today in an encounter between two B teams. After drawing 1-1 with Real Avilés last time out, Vetusta travelled to Santander with the clear intention of getting back to winning ways, and Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco, Osky, Aimar Collante, Jaime V, Marco Esteban, Darío, Izan, Iván, Diego Menéndez, Santi Miguélez and Xavi Sola.

The encounter got off to an ideal start for Los Carbayones, with Santi Miguélez meeting a fine Xavi Sola cross from the left wing to open the scoring in the 14th minute. Vetusta had emerged strongly for the match, and had the chance to extend their lead during the opening 30 minutes. In the 31st minute Xavi Sola would find the back of the net, heading home from an Osky cross, but the official took the decision to rule the strike out for a debatable offside.

Shortly afterwards, Santamaría managed to fire home to level the scoring, while some fine individual play would lead to Neco Celorio giving the hosts a 2-1 lead in the 39th minute. Vetusta were down to ten men when the second goal was scored, with Iván receiving treatment on the sideline.

Rayo Cantabria added a third goal in the 49th minute to make things much more difficult for the Asturians. Víctor Blanco, Charbel, and Enol came on in order to change things up, but in the 58th minute Neco Celorio would add a fourth goal for the home team. Jorge Delgado made it five in the 74th minute, bringing an end to a match in which Vetusta had begun spectacularly and dominated the first thirty minutes.

Jaime Álvarez's team will look to turn things around next time out, when they come up against Marino de Luanco at El Requexón.
