Real Oviedo have kept a twelve-game unbeaten run until this evening at Son Moix. Sergio Egea lined up the same starting-XI from the previous fixture to Elche CF so as to take on RCD Mallorca, who were celebrating their centennial and started the game at a high pace. The Blues were really consistent in defence and the locals could not create any chances on Esteban's goal up to the pivotal action that was to condition the game. Dani Bautista got a straight red in a clearance to corner kick. Real Oviedo were left one man down by the referee just ten minutes before half time. Then, Susaeta produced an a long shot, almost from the Blues' own half, when Cabrero was outside the goal box but the Majorcan goalkeeper managed to save it.
In the second half, when Real Oviedo left-back Peña was about to be brought on, another unfortunate action doomed the Blues. A cross from the Majorcan right wing made David Fernández produced a clearance that ended up in an own goal. From that moment on, together with substitutes Koné and Borja Valle on the pitch, Real Oviedo attacked steadily searching for an equaliser, but no clear chances were produced. Real Oviedo played in Mallorca's own half for the rest of the game. There were some set-pieces where Real Oviedo could not shoot to goal. Borja Valle made an attempt that went wide high up and Johannesson made a good cross from the left wing that was cleared by the local defence just before Esteban punched off the only shot on goal by Mallorca.
All in all, a defeat that brings Real Oviedo's three-month unbeaten run to an end. The Blues fought until the very last minute even though just two minutes of stoppage time were added.
