The Carlos Tartiere today hosted Matchday 9 in LaLiga Smartbank, with the fixture between Real Oviedo and UD Logroñés. The game was heavily affected by refereeing decisions, as Real Oviedo lost 3-2.
Cuco Ziganda went for a starting eleven of Brazão; Juanjo Nieto, Grippo, Bolaño, Mossa; Sangalli, Tejera, Edgar, Nahuel; Obeng and Blanco Leschuk. Right from the opening minutes of the match, Real Oviedo put a lot of intensity into the match, pressing the visitors high up as they tried to play the ball out from the back. From one such passage of play, just six minutes into the match, an away defender turned the ball into his own net to give Real Oviedo the lead. However, one of the very next passages of
play saw Simone Grippo foul a Logroñés player, and after initially being given a yellow card, a VAR check saw it changed to a red. Arribas came on for Blanco Leschuk as the side readjusted. Despite being down to ten men, Real Oviedo continued to put in a very professional performance, with defensive solidity, and not to allow their opponent to create any danger. Arribas had scored a second for Los Azules just before the break, but the referee decided to rule out the goal after looking at VAR.
Logroñés took control of the play after the interval, scoring two quick goals from isolated moves. Nevertheless, Real Oviedo did not let their heads drops, nor stop generating chances. Obeng grabbed the equaliser, firing home a loose ball from inside the six-yard box. Logroñés managed to take the lead once more following some misfortune for Ziganda's side. The Coach brought on Viti and Mujica, and the match ended with Real Oviedo trying to find a way through once more, but they could not find the
necessary luck to grab a leveller.
Real Oviedo will be back at work from 12:30 tomorrow at El Requexón, as the side begins to prepare for Saturday's match against UD Las Palmas.
