Real Oviedo’s 2016-17 season came to an end following a 2-0 victory against Elche CF away at the Martínez Valero. Despite this result, the results of Real Oviedo’s playoff-chasing rivals left the Asturian side in eighth place; two points adrift.
The match took place in front of a dejected Martínez Valero, with the home side having been relegated the week before. This peculiar atmosphere affected Real Oviedo, who failed to find their rhythm in the first half.
