1,000 Real Oviedo fans in the stands at Anduva were able to enjoy a new naway triumph for Real Oviedo. Months after their last three points on the road, the side from the Asturian capital managed to pick a hard-fought win in Miranda de Ebro, who put Real Oviedo under pressure right from the first half.

Juan Carlos had to make two interventions before the first chance for Los Azules, which saw Saúl Berjón’s long range shot go wide. Twenty minutes into the match, Jonathan Vila asked to be taken off due to injury, with Lucas Torró coming on in his place. Shortly afterwards, from a throw in close to the Mirandés by-line, the ball fell to the feet of Saúl and this time he made no mistake. He hit a shot from the left-hand side of the box, and opened the scoring with his first goal since returning to the club, to the delight of the Real Oviedo fans behind Roberto’s goal. Susaeta had another clear opportunity from a free kick which went just over the top of the bar, due to the strong wind, before Toché just failed to find a way past Roberto from a one-on-one.

After the break, and with the wind against them, Real Oviedo found themselves tested in defence. Mirandés were surging forward, trying to make the most of their attacking opportunities. At the other end, Susaeta fired a rebound from a dead ball just over the top of the bar. Then, David Costas grabbed the second Real Oviedo goal for the second consecutive match, making the most of a free kick swung into the box by Susaeta. Toché, who was fully involved in the team’s defensive efforts, had a chance to score Real Oviedo’s third, but couldn’t quite get the ball under control in the box. Juan Carlos intervened to tip a fierce effort onto the crossbar, and Mirandés tried everything to cut the deficit, but Real Oviedo’s defence was resolute to the end. Michu featured for the first time in two months, entering the fray in place of Borja Domínguez, and he was involved in the few Real Oviedo attacks in the final stages of the match. The three points pushed Real Oviedo back into the playoff places, and the players were able to enjoy the occasion with their travelling fans.

The next training session will be tomorrow, at 10:30, at El Requexón.
