Real Oviedo didn't manage to gain any points against Reus in the second of three games in eight days, conceding the crucial goal in the last minute of stoppage time.
Having made two changes to the starting 11 seen against Getafe last time out, and with Rocha and Edu Bedia partnering each other in central midfield, Real Oviedo withstood the first ten minutes of the match, feeling their way into the game. Reus preferred to sit back and counter attack, and Real Oviedo began to search for the opening goal. A free kick from Susaeta was saved by Badía, the Catalan side's goalkeeper, but while Realo Oviedo had numerous attacks, few were clear cut. Martín Alaniz tried his luck with a powerful effort which grazed the crossbar. Rocha was next to strike the bar from the edge of the box, before Toché had two decent chances prior to the half time interval. Firstly he just missed the top corner with a shot following some fine individual play and then his header went just wide.
The second half began in the same fashion and a free kick from Varela was saved by the Reus keeper. Hierro began to shuffle his pack, introducing Nando, Erice and Linares to provide fresh legs and even more opportunities in attack. However the Catalan side, were sitting even deeper now, making it very difficult for Los Azules to create chances. Michu had the best chance from a long ball which he controlled, turned and struck, but he was again thwarted by Badía. Reus didn't really threaten Juan Carlos' goal at any point until stoppage time. A free kick in the final minute of added time ended in a goal for the Catalans, meaning a defeat for Real Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere.
