Academy product Javi Mier appeared in the Press Room this morning, having made his first-team debut at the Carlos Tartiere on Sunday against Málaga. The player was asked how he felt, and stated that "it was the debut I'd dreamt of; at home in front of our fans. I was a little surprised because I was prepared to play for the B team on Saturday. You are surprised a bit at first, but then you get your head around it and approach it like any other match."
With respect to his role in the match, Javi explained that "it was up to me to do that job. I am here for whatever the Coach asks of me and will try to do it." Regarding the penalty, he explained that "it was impulse but I tried to pull my hand away. Everything is checked with VAR now. We move on."
Regarding what his family had said to him, Javi said that "they told me that they are very proud and that I had to keep working. It's something I'd dreamt about since I was a child."
Finally, talking about the Coach, Javi Mier said that "he puts faith in all the players. I am very grateful."
