Real Oviedo were back at the Carlos Tartiere today, as they came up against CD Mirandés in Matchday 35 in LaLiga Hypermotion. Los Carbayones were looking for a third consecutive victory in what was a must-win match. The welcome given to the team by the Oviedistas on their way to the stadium served to highlight still further the importance of the fixture, and Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Oier Luengo, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Viti, Colombatto, Luismi, Seoane, Masca, Sebas Moyano and Alemão.
Real Oviedo went in search of the three points right from the kick-off. Following some fine individual play Sebas Moyano fired in a venomous effort from the edge of the box, which the keeper was forced to tip over the crossbar. The game plan was clear right from the outset, with the Asturians looking to dominate, while CD Mirandés tried to do damage on the counter attack. The minutes ticked by at the Carlos Tartiere with the score still 0-0, until the deadlock was broken by Seoane in the 43rd minute. The midfielder flicked a header from an Abel Bretones cross into the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead going in for the half-time interval.
After the break Masca had an opportunity to double the advantage, but he was denied by a great save. The visitors took a step forward during the second half, while Real Oviedo looked to hold on. Paulino and Dubasin came on in the 72nd minute in place of Masca and Sebas Moyano, in an attempt to freshen up the team. The away team's improved second half performance received its reward in the 86th minute when Gabri Martínez made the score 1-1.
Today's point felt like scant reward for the Asturians in their battle at the top of the table, as it left them in 55 points and in sixth place in the division. There is no time to lose, and the team has now begun thinking about the coming league fixture against Cartagena.
