Real Oviedo travelled to the Carlos Belmonte today with the idea of picking up another victory, which would move them even closer to a playoff place. Last weekend's 3-2 victory against Levante UD had provided a morale boost for the Asturians going into Matchday 30 in LaLiga Hypermotion, and for today's match against Albacete BP Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Abel Bretones, Oier Luengo, Dani Calvo, Viti, Luismi, Colombatto, Cazorla, Masca, Sebas Moyano and Borja Bastón.
The opening minutes of the encounter were very even and saw very few chances for either side. In the 35th minute Santiago Colombatto fired the first warning shot, with his free kick going just wide. The hosts, meanwhile, went close themselves minutes later. Manu Fuster went on a fine individual run before curling a fantastic effort on target, but Leo Román made a wonderful fingertip save to maintain the 0-0 scoreline at half-time.
Los Azules started the second half strongly, looking to play the majority of the game in the opponent's half, and Viti would have the first opportunity within the first few minutes following the restart. The winger fired in a fierce effort after breaking down the right wing, but the keeper stood up to the challenge. Our team continued to dominate, however, and the reward would not take long to arrive. A fine Colombatto through ball saw Sebas Moyano go through one-on-one with the keeper, and the winger made no mistake and gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.
After conceding the opening goal, the home team went immediately in search of the equaliser. After having two good chances, Rubén Albés' side eventually managed to level the scoring through former Real Oviedo player Carlos Isaac. The goal saw Albacete grow into the encounter, and they went looking for a second in front of their own fans. Nonetheless, Real Oviedo knew how to stand up to the threat and recover, and would ultimately claim the three points through an 88th minute goal from Jaime Seoane. The midfielder turned an inch-perfect Abel Bretones cross goalwards, getting the better of Vaclik and providing the Asturians with what felt like much more than three points.
The win took Los Azules onto 47 points and temporarily moved the team up to fourth in the table, with matches still remaining this weekend. Following this very deserved victory, Luis Carrión's side now turns its attention to the fixture against Racing de Santander at the Carlos Tartiere.
