Real Oviedo went into Matchday 25 in LaLiga Hypermotion in search of a third consecutive victory, coming up against CD Eldense at the Carlos Tartiere. Los Azules were looking for another home win, and Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Viti, Luengo, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Colombatto, Jimmy, Sebas Moyano, Masca, Dubasin and Borja Bastón.
The match was very even in the early stages, with Sebas Moyano having the first chance, but his shot went over the bar. Just a few minutes later, Abel Bretones was close to breaking to deadlock after a good break down the left wing, but his effort was fired into the side-netting. Eldense could have gone down to ten men following a hard tackle on Dubasin, but the referee decided to show the player only a yellow card. CD Eldense look the lead just after this controversial passage of play, with Chapela finding the back of the net to make the score 1-0.
Luis Carrión made three changes at half-time, bringing on David Costas, Cazorla, and Paulino de la Fuente in place of Viti, Masca, and Jimmy. The Asturians stepped up the pace with the changes and spent the whole second half in search of goals. Following several good opportunities, Bastón was brought down in the area, and following a VAR check the referee awarded the penalty and dismissed Dumic. The captain made no mistake from the spot and made the score 1-1. Alemão and Lucas Ahijado also came on, and the Carlos Tartiere were relentless in their support for the team. In the final minutes Santi Cazorla struck the crossbar from a free kick.
Despite the final chances, the match would eventually finish in a 1-1 draw, which leaves Los Carbayones on 38 points going to next weekend's Asturian derby against Real Sporting de Gijón.
