Real Oviedo winger Saúl Berjón appeared in the Press Room today at El Requexón.

Ahead of this weekend’s match against Sporting, the Oviedo-born winger stated that “we are playing for three more points, but this is special. We are aware that it isn’t just another match, it’s the main rivalry that Real Oviedo has, and it’s the match that we all want to play in. We are working hard and we will try to win, earn points and give the fans something to be happy about. There is satisfaction in winning, but whatever the result may be, we have to think about what comes next.”

Regarding whether he had explained the atmosphere around this match in the changing room, Saúl commented that “they are going to experience it away from home, but you don’t need to explain it to them. The people understand and know that it is going to last forever. They won’t forget it. The atmosphere is special; you can feel it in the streets. More people are going to cheer us on than normal.”

Asked about how he is feeling personally, the winger said that “I am feeling better every day. I feel good, we are winning, and I hope that it continues this way. I needed confidence. I am very hard on myself. Now it’s time to find the spark and speed. It’s not about Saúl doing well; it’s about Real Oviedo doing well. The team is doing well and we are aware that we are all helping out. The Coach can count on me for whatever he wants.”

Comparing the differences between this derby and last year’s fixture at El Molinón, Saúl believes that “last year was the first (derby) in a long time. Now it is a different match. We are in good form and we have to keep going. We have almost guaranteed safety in the division now and then we can think about our other objectives.”

Finally, speaking about the key factors to achieving a positive result this Sunday, the Real Oviedo captain concluded by saying that “they are intense, and we have to overcome them is this regard. That is one of our identifying traits as well.”
