Sergio Egea appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón this morning following the team’s training session
Jimmy is “doing fine” after leaving training early yesterday as a precautionary measure and at the moment the staff are “calm” regarding Forlín’s situation. The Argentine Head Coach shared that “I have watched the Málaga match three times. I believe that the mistake for the penalty and a fine piece of play by them just before half time were the key moments. In general terms, the team had a great attitude. We are now depending on other teams slipping up, but we have to get the remaining twelve points. We have the squad to do it; we have good footballers and a good group. Football is about challenges; we have to have faith when we see how we train during the week. We go onto any pitch to compete. I ask my players to fight and to give everything for this shirt. A lot of things can happen with twelve points still remaining.”
Regarding possible changes to the lineup, Sergio Egea explained that “the eleven we have been choosing has competed well. I cannot find a lot of flaws in the lineup. We will see tomorrow which eleven we decide upon. There are five or six lads behind them who compete in the best way possible, and if they come in, they will do well.”
The Real Oviedo Head Coach also believes that his team can “achieve everything we set out for. We went to Málaga, which is a top venue. They had a poor period, but they have a great squad. It was a difficult match. We had planned to push on and press them. It's true that we did not shoot on goal, though. I have full confidence in Real Oviedo’s footballers, and have faith and hope that the three points will stay here.”
Concerning the opponents Real Oviedo now face and their objectives, the Argentine coach points out that, “it is a struggle because they are at risk of relegation. It’s much more detrimental to be relegated than to not reach the playoffs. They will come out with pressure and focus and will make it difficult for us, but it's football and we have to compete.”
Finally, when asked if he was worried about a possible “cold” reception at the Carlos Tartiere, Sergio Egea commented that “we have to listen to the Real Oviedo fans, who are always behind their team. I’m sure they will encourage us, and they will support us. We have to make them happy; that’s our job,” concluded the Argentine Head Coach
