Real Oviedo made four changes to the starting lineup and produced one of their best first halves of the season, which was only lacking the opening goal. Anquela’s side sealed the win in the second half to the delight of the fans at the Tartiere. The scoreline did justice for a fine Real Oviedo, back on form when they most needed to be.

Saúl Berjón, Mossa and Joselu returned to the eleven, along with Folch who came back from suspension. Anquela’s team were firmly in control of the match during the first half, enjoying more than 70% of the possession. The hosts lacked presence in the area, as was apparent with Mossa’s cross aimed at Joselu in the very early stages. Nàstic had a far taller side, but couldn’t get hold of the ball. Viti had a chance in the 25th minute, virtually from the byline, which Bernabé turned around the upright for a corner. Shortly afterwards, a Javi Muñoz effort from the edge of the box grazed the bar, having packed up venom from a deflection. Real Oviedo continued to push, with a fine Bárcenas pass almost picking out Joselu. The latter then fired over the bar from a later passage of play. Saúl put a fine cross in on the verge of halftime, but neither Viti nor Mossa could get on the end of it. Champagne intervened to make his only save of the first half just before the interval, from a long-range Nàstic effort.

The Asturians domination of possession decreased in the second half, but the chances and goals arrived. Joselu opened the scoring from the first opportunity of the second half, following some fine movement, as he headed home Yoel Bárcenas’ cross. With the scoreboard now reading 1-0, ‘Los Carbayones’ went close twice more soon afterwards. A low Mossa cross into the box was cleared by the defenders, before Saúl Berjón was denied by Bernabé. Bárcenas had a go with a low drive which went wide. Joselu then failed to connect with an audacious bicycle kick, before grazing the bar with a fine side-footed strike from the edge of the box. Nàstic then enjoyed their best period of the encounter. Johannesson came on for Viti, before Ibra replaced Bárcenas. Real Oviedo were impeccable in defence from several corners in quick succession, while Champagne also made some fantastic interventions. Christian Fernández then produced a wonderful header to seal the win, from a fine free-kick into the box from Saúl Berjón. The match ended in a 2-0 win for a Real Oviedo side who knew how to read and manage the game throughout. The team were given fine backing at the end of the match by the gathered fans at the Carlos Tartiere.

The team will resume training at 10:30 tomorrow at El Requexón.
