The Press Room at El Requexón today hosted the presentation of the award for January's 'Jugador Cinco Estrellas' Player of the Month, with the prize going to Andriy Lunin. The Ukrainian goalkeeper, whose fine form has stood out since his arrival during the winter transfer window, was selected by the fans of Los Azules. The fans chose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou, with the shot stopper, on loan from Real Madrid, winning the vote. He received the award from Unai Ramos, from 'Barra Brava', on behalf of Mahou.
Having been presented with the award, Andriy Lunin spoke to the gathered media, dedicating the prize to all his teammates. "The trophy is for the whole team. We are working well. I am happy and understand my teammates, the coaching staff... now I can prove myself, and I want to help the team and keep growing."
The Ukrainian keeper believes that the team being back playing at the Carlos Tartiere this Saturday is great news. "Playing in front of our fans at our ground is a spectacular feeling. You play better. That's why we hope they help us on Saturday. We can do a lot with their help." On a personal level, Lunin is hungry to keep a clean sheet in a match. "We are still yet to achieve that. Saves are good, but if I had saved the penalties then I would have helped the team more, we would have got the three points and we would be higher up the table. We are doing much better defensively now and we are still working, doing tactical exercises, and
talking."
Finally, Lunin evaluated his first few games at Real Oviedo, explaining that "I have improved, but I can still give a lot more, and that's why I keep working."
