La Ciudad de Fútbol de Las Rozas hosted the first pre-season match for Javi Calleja’s side, before the start of the pre-season stage at Pinatar Arena. Los Azules won 1-0 against Getafe CF.

For this match, Calleja’s starting eleven was made up of Braat, Lemos, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Rahim, Masca, Dotor, Álex Cardero, Sebas Moyano and Alemao, who, in the intense heat of Madrid, stood up to a tough Getafe team.

The first half was all Real Oviedo. The team from Asturias enjoyed the clearest chances and took control of the ball. It didn’t take long for Los Carbayones to take the lead when Dotor played a great through ball in to Alemao, who beat the Getafe goalkeeper with a lob. Los Azules, with some fine combination play down the flank, looked to widen the gap on the scoreboard but were unable to convert the chances they had. Defensively, Javi Calleja’s squad was solid, blocking all the attacks from the Madrid-based team.

After halftime, Javi Calleja changed all eleven players on the pitch bringing on Aarón, Lucas,
Oier, Jaime Vázquez, Pomares, Millán, Miguelez, Sibo, Borja Sánchez and Paraschiv. In the second half, the home team had increased energy and it was a more competitive game,
with clear chances for both teams. Áaron Escandell was forced into a couple of saves to prevent Getafe from equalising, whilst Álex Millán had the clearest chances to extend the lead.

Good impressions and the first Real Oviedo victory of preseason, before we head to Murcia this Thursday, where they will carry out the training stage at Pinatar Arena.
