Real Oviedo is about much more than just the first team, with Fundoma providing proof of it. The facilities of the Patronato de la Fundación Docente de Mineros Asturianos provide accommodation for boys and girls from around the world. The youngsters are able to enjoy all of the facilities of the residence, which encourages player growth and helps with their development on and off the pitch.
This week has seen a record number of 68 children and young people aged between 10 and 22 lodged in a place which offers much more than a roof and food. From the youngest resident, the Venezuelan Pablo, to the oldest, Portuguese striker Francisco Mascarenhas, the recent Real Oviedo Vetusta signing, all of the inhabitants live together, united by football and Real Oviedo.
Young people from the USA, Brazil, Nigeria, Canada, Gambia, Colombia, Japan, Portugal, Venezuela, Ukraine, Chile, Mozambique, Nicaragua, the United Kingdom and Spain live together in stays ranging from days, to months, to full seasons. They demonstrate on a daily basis that there is no language barrier in football, and that the work done by Real Oviedo and its Foundation transcends borders.
