Real Oviedo attacker Ilyas Chaira appeared in the GAM Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere today, ahead of this Wednesday's training session. The 1-0 victory over Cartagena FC provided a morale boost for Los Carbayones, as the winger explained. "There is a good atmosphere. We needed a victory and we all wanted it. It was a must-win match. I'm not going to say that we can relax now, but it provides some happiness which does us all good and we are delighted."
He added that, "we are all conscious of the club that we are at, and we know that each week we have to go out to win. Going out to win provides extra motivation. Drawing or losing is not good enough here. I know the club that I've joined and we are coming here to try to win every match. That's what has been transmitted to us right from the start."
Regarding his form and performances since arriving, the winger declared that "this victory helps me move past the fact that until now I had scored goals but that they hadn't been much good to the team. I am happy because I'm playing and the Gaffer is giving me a chance. I'm a new signing and being able to start each game is very good."
Finally, asked what the Gaffer asks of him and the next league fixture, Ilyas Chaira highlighted that "Calleja asks me to help the team in defence and in attack. In attack he wants me to be direct, look for the one-on-one, and then get numbers. That's what matters. It will be a tough ground to go to. I know them from last year and it's a tough team that is quite difficult to attack."
