Real Oviedo Vetusta faced Coruxo FC in Matchday 7 of Grupo 1 in the Segunda RFEF this morning at El Requexón. Los Azules went into the encounter off the back of the point in Guijuelo, and had the clear intention of securing a home victory. Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco, Aimar, Jaime Vázquez, Marco Esteban, Omar, Sesé, Yayo, Víctor Blanco, Diego, Miguélez and Enol.
The first half was very even and lacked clear chances. The opening stages saw Marco make a great intervention to prevent the Galician side from breaking the deadlock. The B team improved as the first half progressed, but would have to wait until after the interval for the goals to arrive.
The second half would see Marco Estaban do justice for what had been seen out on the pitch, heading home a Santi Miguélez cross to make the score 1-0. Then, in the 77th minute, second-half substitute Izan fired home a fine strike from the edge of the box, finding the top corner and making the score 2-0. Los Carbayones would enjoy a relatively calm final period of the match, with Coruxo struggling to threaten.
This was a very important victory for Vetusta, who have now picked up seven of the last nine available points, taking their tally for the season to nine. The next league fixture will see the B team travel to Pontevedra, with kick-off at 17:00 on Sunday.
