Dani Calvo appeared before the media today in the Press Room at El Requexón. Los Azules are preparing for this weekend's Asturian derby against Real Sporting de Gijón, and the defender was quick to highlight the importance of the clash. "It's a very important match, particularly with both teams up near the top of the table. A victory would give us a boost, because right now neither of us are in the playoff places."

The defender continued by stating that "winning in Gijón would be a turning point, and we are going there with that mentality. We have a good chance of doing it and getting in the playoff places. I'm sure it will be a very lively derby, because both of us are right up there."

Los Carbayones go into the encounter off the back of the 1-1 draw with CD Eldense, and with a bitter-sweet taste after not being able to claim the three points. "It was a bit of a blow, because we'd gone into that match with high hopes of winning. We are still getting points though, which is the important thing, and there is a lot of ambition and hunger. We want to keep progressing."

Returning to the topic of Saturday's derby, the centre back explained that "they are lively and very tense matches, but in the changing room we try to transmit the need to keep cool heads. The team which keeps its composure will have a better chance of winning. I am expecting there to be a lot of tension. The stadium will be packed, and there will also be a lot of Oviedistas supporting us. We have to have the necessary calm, because we have been doing things well for a long time now."
